💰 Safe Bulkers launches trading on Euronext Athens to boost European investor access
Safe Bulkers, a major player in the international dry bulk shipping sector, has commenced trading on the Main Market of Euronext Athens under the ticker symbol SB, with an initial price of €5.70. The move is aimed at strengthening the link between Greek shipping and European capital markets and expanding the company’s investor base across Europe. Safe Bulkers has been listed on the New York Stock Exchange since 2008, which will remain its primary trading venue.
The dual listing was inaugurated with the presence of Deputy Shipping Minister Marina Hadjimanolis and Cyprus ambassador Stavros Avgoustides, highlighting the company’s strong Cypriot roots. Safe Bulkers CEO Polys Hadjioannou emphasized that this strategic step supports Athens’ ambition to become a leading shipping finance center within the Euronext network and enhances confidence in Greek and European capital markets.
Safe Bulkers operates a fleet of 45 dry bulk vessels, with 11 newbuilds including environmentally advanced and dual-fuel ships on order. The company maintains strong financial health with $399 million in liquidity and reported $288 million in revenues in 2025. The Athens listing is expected to improve share accessibility for European investors and potentially pave the way for other Greek shipping firms to follow suit.
