🌍 Ersinyurman urges realistic expectations ahead of UN envoy Olgin's arrival
The leader of the Turkish Cypriot community, Tufan Erhürman, emphasized the importance of resolving issues through dialogue and diplomacy and urged against raising excessive expectations or undermining the negotiation process. His remarks come as the personal envoy of the UN Secretary-General, Maria Angela Olgin Queir, prepares to visit Cyprus.
In a social media post, Erhürman confirmed his side's readiness to engage in talks in good faith, aligned with the will of their people for a solution. He stressed that lasting peace and stability can only be achieved through constructive negotiations, dismissing attempts to derail the process prematurely.
Erhürman also highlighted the need for patience, calmness, and seriousness during preparations, vowing to avoid unnecessary statements or pointless confrontations while committing to keep the public accurately informed to safeguard their right to the truth.
