Police in Cyprus are investigating a phone scam case involving the theft of €42,500 from a 76-year-old woman's bank account. The victim received a call from a man claiming to be a payments-service director, who convinced her to follow a link sent to her mobile phone using false security claims.

Authorities warn the public to be extremely cautious when receiving calls from unknown numbers and emphasize that no legitimate organization will ever ask for banking details, personal information, or security codes via phone or text. Police also urge people to inform elderly relatives about such scams, as they are often targeted by fraudsters.
