Bus stops in Paphos are being upgraded, starting with the tourist areas, according to acting mayor Angelos Onisiforou. The move comes after severe criticism from the Paphos Regional Board of Tourism in September, which described the bus stops as having "an unacceptable and third-world image," noting a lack of covers, benches, and overall poor condition.

The municipality aims to gradually restore and modernize all bus stops across the city. The tourism board had urged authorities to make improvements before the tourism season kicks off in February, emphasizing the importance of better facilities to support the visitor experience.

Onisiforou reassured residents and tourists that upgrades would continue until every bus stop meets acceptable standards and contributes positively to the city's image.
