A 45-year-old man was arrested shortly after midnight in Nicosia for speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol, police reported. The driver was stopped by traffic police on Larnaca Avenue in Aglandjia at around 12:30am traveling at 104km/h in a 50km/h zone.

A breathalyser test recorded a reading of 78µ, significantly above the legal limit of 22, resulting in his immediate arrest. The man is scheduled to appear before Nicosia district court on Wednesday.

The incident is currently under investigation by Omorfita police as authorities continue to address road safety concerns.
