💰 Ukraine leads as top sunflower oil supplier to Cyprus in 2024 imports
In 2024, Cyprus imported approximately 15.34 million kilograms of sunflower and safflower oil, relying heavily on international suppliers due to limited local production. Ukraine emerged as the dominant supplier, providing over 9.26 million kilograms of sunflower oil, reflecting its large-scale production capacity, competitive pricing, and strong export infrastructure.
Other notable suppliers to Cyprus include Bulgaria with 2.85 million kilograms, Hungary with 1.41 million kilograms, Greece with nearly 735,000 kilograms, and Romania with around 294,000 kilograms. These countries contribute to diversifying Cyprus's sunflower oil supply and reducing dependence on a single source.
Maritime trade routes, particularly through the Black Sea, play a critical role in ensuring the efficient delivery of sunflower oil to Cyprus. The established logistics network supports stable supply chains crucial for wholesalers, distributors, and the HoReCa sector, highlighting the importance of diversified sourcing strategies for Cypriot businesses.
