📰 Cypriots Work Longer Weeks Than EU Average, Eurostat Data Shows

Cypriots are working longer hours compared to the average in the European Union, according to Eurostat's latest employment report for 2025. The data revealed that the average weekly working hours for Cypriots stood at 37.7 hours, significantly higher than the EU average of 35.9 hours for workers aged 20 to 64. This places Cyprus above many other EU nations, reflecting a more demanding work schedule on the island.

Overall, a decrease in working hours has been noted across the EU, with the average falling from 36.9 hours in 2015 to 35.9 hours a decade later. In contrast, Greece has the longest working weeks at 39.6 hours. At the opposite end, the Netherlands reports the shortest at 31.9 hours. Sector-wise, agricultural and forestry workers put in the longest weeks at 42.0 hours, while elementary occupations saw the shortest weeks, averaging just 31.8 hours.
