The confusion arose after EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas stated that all foreign embassies except one had stayed in Kyiv, implying the US embassy had left. However, the embassy explicitly refuted these statements, emphasizing its ongoing presence and commitment to operating in Kyiv. Ukrainian officials noted some American diplomats may have temporarily relocated during recent strikes, but the embassy did not directly comment on these reports.

The US embassy underscored that the safety of American personnel remains a top priority and that security measures are constantly reviewed. Meanwhile, the acting US ambassador to Kyiv was reported to be in Lviv recently, reflecting continued US engagement in Ukraine despite the heightened risks.
