👮 Psychologist convicted of sexually abusing teenage patient in Limassol court
A psychologist was found guilty by the Limassol criminal court of sexually abusing a 17-year-old patient under his care. The court convicted him on four charges related to sexual abuse, confirming that he abused the therapeutic relationship to exploit the teenager's trust.
The offences included kissing the patient, placing her hand on an intimate area, and engaging in a sexual act at his residence. Evidence showed the psychologist blurred professional boundaries by fostering a personal relationship with the patient, who viewed him as a trusted figure while attending therapy sessions for low self-confidence and family issues.
Following the conviction, the court ordered the defendant to remain in custody pending further hearings. Sentencing submissions are expected in early June. The ruling emphasized that the defendant abused his position of trust, power, and influence over a vulnerable young person during therapy.
