💊 Cyprus Cabinet Approves Bill to Modernize Medical Boards for Improved Efficiency
The Cabinet of Cyprus has approved a new bill designed to modernize and enhance the efficiency of medical boards across the country. The legislation aims to provide faster, fairer, and better service to citizens by streamlining referral and evaluation procedures under a unified legal framework. Health Minister Neofytos Charalambides emphasized that the reform will eliminate the fragmentation present in current medical board processes, ensuring transparency and equal treatment for all patients.
A significant aspect of the bill is its response to the shortage of doctors within the public sector. It permits doctors from OKYPY, the Primary Healthcare System, as well as private practitioners contracted with the Health Insurance Organization, to participate in medical board functions. This inclusive approach is intended to strengthen fairness and guarantee that all citizens receive assessments performed according to consistent, modern criteria.
