📰 Cypriot Party Leaders Discuss Parliamentary and Presidential Support Plans
Cypriot political leaders Nicholas Papadopoulos from Diko and Annita Demetriou from Disy met on Tuesday to negotiate potential mutual support for upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections. During a televised interview, Papadopoulos remained reserved about the details of their conversation, emphasizing the need to consult with all parties before making any decisions. The discussions hint at a possible agreement where Disy might support Papadopoulos for House president in return for Diko’s backing of Demetriou’s 2028 presidential candidacy. However, Papadopoulos was quick to clarify that these talks have no link to the presidential election slated for 2028. The new parliament is scheduled to elect its president on June 4.
