🌍 Turkish Cypriot Leader Criticizes Israel and Regional Policies, Cites Security Concerns

Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman, in an interview with Turkish broadcaster Haber, expressed deep mistrust towards Israel while condemning its military and diplomatic strategies in the region. He targeted the Republic of Cyprus for excluding both Turkish Cypriots and Turkey from regional security and cooperation frameworks. Highlighting the increased military activities, notably at Andreas Papandreou Air Base, he associated these with expanded cooperation between Cyprus, Israel, the United States, and France, suggesting such actions contribute to regional instability.

Erhurman voiced concerns about regional trade and diplomacy efforts that sideline Turkish Cypriots and Turkey, labeling them nonviable. He stressed the importance of coordination with Turkey in regional and Cyprus-related policymaking, emphasizing dialogue as essential for resolving Cyprus issues. Erhurman also pointed out public unrest within Greek Cypriot communities concerning property acquisitions by Israeli developers, though specific details remained unclear.
