⛪ Archimandrite Grigorios Ioannides Elected New Metropolitan of Paphos
Archimandrite Grigorios Ioannides has been elected as the new Metropolitan of Paphos by the Holy Synod, receiving a significant majority of 11 votes against his competitor Hieromonk Sofronios Stasinou, who received one vote, with four blank votes. In his initial remarks following the election, Metropolitan Grigorios expressed his excitement about meeting the people of Paphos and emphasized that the doors of the Metropolis will be open to everyone. He also paid tribute to the late Archbishop Chrysostomos II of Cyprus. Metropolitan Grigorios noted the honor and responsibility of serving the historical and religious community of Paphos, reflecting on his 19 years of service in the Metropolis of Trimythous.
