👮 Two Women Sentenced for Defrauding Landowners of Over €300,000 in Cyprus

The Limassol Criminal Court today sentenced two women to prison for defrauding over 20 landowners of more than €300,000 in the Famagusta district. The 45-year-old was given six years for money laundering and an additional three years for acquiring illegal proceeds, while her accomplice, aged 53, received a 12-month sentence. Both pleaded guilty, acknowledging their roles in a scheme promising fictitious compensation and opportunities to sell properties in the occupied northern areas. The 45-year-old falsely represented herself as a lawyer with influential connections, and the 53-year-old claimed to liaise with a Greek Cypriot investor interested in purchasing properties. The court highlighted the premeditated, deceitful tactics employed by the offenders to exploit the victims, many of whom were related, emphasizing the pronounced, serious nature of their crimes.
