🌴 Famagusta Tourism Authorities Launch Major Digital Campaign Amidst Sharp Decline in Visitor Numbers
Tourism bodies in the free Famagusta district of Cyprus have initiated a substantial digital marketing campaign aimed at boosting visitor numbers from six key European markets. This initiative comes as the region faces a significant drop in tourism, with overall arrivals in Cyprus decreasing by 17.9% in the first four months of 2026 compared to the previous year, and a 28% decline in April alone. The campaign, organized by the Famagusta branch of the Cyprus Hotels Association in collaboration with various local tourism partners, is designed to target markets in the UK, Poland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Sweden. It is focused on promoting attractions in Protaras, Ayia Napa, and the district at large, highlighting local beaches, gastronomy, and cultural events. The overarching goal is to bolster the district’s international profile, drive up tourist arrivals and extend the tourism season beyond the traditional peak months.
