🏠 Rise in Inquiries About Property Safety After Limassol Building Collapse
Following the collapse of an apartment block in Germasogeia, Limassol, on April 11th, which resulted in two fatalities, there has been a significant increase in inquiries to the Limassol District Local Government Organisation (DLGO) from potential property buyers and co-owners concerned about building safety. The DLGO has emphasized that while it receives questions on property safety, it does not serve as a mediation body for disputes between co-owners or issues with unresponsive building management. The organisation also highlighted the critical responsibility of property owners and management committees in maintaining the structural safety and adherence to legal obligations essential for protecting human life and public safety. Moreover, it urged the importance of timely inspections by qualified professionals, especially for older or visibly deteriorating buildings, to prevent further incidents.
