💊 EU Commissioner Dombrovskis Inspects Cyprus Recovery Projects Amid ECOFIN Meeting
On Saturday, EU Commissioner for Economy and Productivity Valdis Dombrovskis visited Nicosia to inspect various projects funded by Cyprus' Recovery and Resilience Plan, coinciding with the capital's hosting of the informal ECOFIN meeting. The commissioner, alongside Finance Minister Makis Keravnos, Health Minister Neofytos Charalambides, and other officials, reviewed the progress of significant health sector investments, including a new €1.3 million photovoltaic system at Nicosia General Hospital and a €6.2 million Cyprus Blood Centre in Geri. These initiatives are part of a broader effort to enhance the nation's health services, supported by a €1.02 billion plan, which is nearing its final phase with completion expected by August 2026. To date, Cyprus has received €589 million from this facility, with plans well on course for completion, leveraging close collaboration among stakeholders and strategic investments in infrastructure and e-health expansions.
