The government has committed to initiating several projects aimed at reducing traffic congestion in Limassol, announced Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades after a meeting with Limassol district mayors. The discussion focused on prioritizing traffic projects, which includes the construction of the Limassol northern bypass, an estimated €200 million initiative intended to divert traffic away from the city center by connecting eastern and western suburbs. Vafeades stressed the urgent need for such projects as 10,000 new vehicles are registered in the city each year. Plans also incorporate enhancements to public transit, including potential bus lanes, once adequate parking and bus frequencies are ensured. The projects' bids are anticipated to be called by the year's end.
