Cypriot authorities successfully prevented a potential arms trafficking operation after discovering six pistols, approximately 300 bullets, and narcotics in an apartment in Nicosia. The operation involved the MMA and YKAN squads. The weapons, found in nylon bags, along with a quantity of drugs were suspected to be transferred from the occupied territories for sale to criminal elements. A 34-year-old Turkish Cypriot and a 25-year-old Turkish national were arrested and placed under an eight-day detention, refusing to cooperate with the police. Further investigations are underway to determine if they had accomplices in the free areas of Cyprus.
