💰 Cyprus Cabinet Approves Salary Subsidy Scheme for Hotel Workers in April

The Cyprus cabinet has approved a salary subsidy scheme aimed at hotel workers for the month of April. The scheme will cover 30% of employees’ monthly salaries, up to €1,324 per worker, for up to 80% of a hotel's workforce, provided that participating hotels have submitted all necessary paperwork.

To qualify, hotels must demonstrate a documented drop in bookings, reflecting the ongoing challenges faced by the tourism sector due to the conflict in the Persian Gulf. The government stressed that subsidies will be disbursed immediately to eligible businesses upon submission of required documentation.

This financial aid aims to incentivize hotels to remain operational and preserve jobs amid a significant slowdown. However, hoteliers have called for broader and longer-term state assistance to fully address the impact on the industry.
