On Thursday night, Cyprus police arrested eight individuals during targeted prevention operations conducted across the island. The arrests were made for various offences including theft by an employee, illegal stay, carrying a knife, drug possession, and assaulting a police officer.

The nationwide operation involved organised patrols in key urban areas, checking 629 drivers and 131 passengers, and inspecting 44 premises, which resulted in six reports of offences. Authorities issued 295 traffic fines, with speeding being the most common violation at 83 cases, and impounded four vehicles. Additionally, 95 alcohol tests led to three drink-driving reports.

Police emphasized that such intensified operations, involving increased presence, targeted checks, and immediate response, will continue daily to prevent and suppress crime, maintain public order, and enhance public safety across Cyprus.
