Anna Aristotelous has requested her immediate appointment to a permanent director-general post effective December 1, 2025, after a recent administrative court ruling annulled her suspension from duty. The court decision, made on June 17, 2026, invalidated the suspension imposed on December 5, 2025. Her lawyer, Christos Triantafyllides, urged the Cabinet to proceed with her permanent placement retroactively from the appointment date.

Despite the court ruling, the Cabinet recommended reinstating her suspension during an extraordinary meeting on June 22, 2026. Aristotelous’ suspension followed an investigation beginning in April 2025, linked to a police search of a prison warden’s home. Authorities seized approximately 300,000 confidential and secret documents believed to have been illegally removed from prisons in late 2022, when Aristotelous was the prison director.
