💰 Nicosia Municipality to phase out paper invoices from 2027, moving to fully electronic billing
Nicosia Municipality announced that starting January 1, 2027, it will stop issuing paper invoices and switch entirely to electronic communication for all bills and charges. The last paper rubbish collection fees for 2026 have already been sent to residents in Nicosia, Engomi, and Ayios Dhometios. This shift aligns with the municipality's environmental policies and efforts to modernize service delivery.
Residents are urged to use the QR codes on their 2026 invoices to register contact details for each property to continue receiving updates. Each invoice and fee category has a separate QR code, requiring individual registration. Payments for 2026 charges can be made online, at municipal service offices, or the central treasury, with card payments accepted at service offices and cash only at the treasury.
The municipality also detailed the objection process for discount criteria, requiring supporting documents and submission by July 31, 2026. Officials cautioned that incomplete or late objections will not be considered. Additionally, payment deadlines are noted on invoices, and late payments will incur a 10% surcharge under legislation.
