🔥 Two wildfires in Mathiatis and Vasa Kellakiou swiftly controlled with minimal damage

Two wildfires broke out overnight and early Tuesday in the Mathiatis and Vasa Kellakiou areas but were quickly brought under control, preventing significant damage, the forestry department reported. The first fire erupted at 12:05 a.m. in the Pervolia area of Mathiatis, with two fire fronts identified. It was fully contained by 1:30 a.m. after burning around 1,000 square meters of reed beds and vegetation. The operation involved four forestry personnel with two fire engines, supported by six firefighters and two fire engines from the fire service.

The second fire started around 7:20 a.m. near Vasa Kellakiou and was controlled within 30 minutes by firefighting crews, averting further spread. Authorities are currently investigating the causes of both fires to determine how they originated.
