👮 Man sentenced to six years for shooting wife in Peyia in 2025

The Criminal Court in Paphos sentenced a 59-year-old man to concurrent prison terms, with the longest being six years, after he shot his wife twice outside their home in Peyia in January 2025. The victim, then 46, was seriously injured by the hunting weapon shots and was hospitalized. The couple has since divorced.

The defendant admitted to the shooting and expressed regret, cooperating fully with police and assisting in the investigation. The court also heard that he paid €130,000 in compensation to the victim, €10,000 to her lawyer, and €21,000 to their minor daughter. Additionally, he transferred assets, including an apartment registered in his daughter’s name, and relinquished claims to two more apartments.

A sworn statement from the victim confirmed full compensation and that she held no further claims against the defendant.
