🌊 MUSKITA Aluminium Industries Supports Conservation Project for Critically Endangered Blackchin Guitarfish in Cyprus
MUSKITA Aluminium Industries has announced its support for a marine conservation project focused on protecting the critically-endangered Blackchin Guitarfish in Cyprus. The initiative, titled “Mark, Measure, Conserve,” started in June 2026 and is led by the Marine and Environmental Research Lab, with backing from the Cyprus Environment Foundation. Through data collection, monitoring, and tagging, the project aims to fill knowledge gaps about the species and engage local fishers in conservation efforts.
The Blackchin Guitarfish has suffered dramatic population declines and is listed as Critically Endangered by the IUCN. MUSKITA’s support through its Corporate Social Responsibility program marks the first time a Cypriot company has sponsored a dedicated conservation effort for this species. The company emphasizes the importance of businesses playing an active role in environmental stewardship.
This collaboration reflects MUSKITA’s commitment to sustainability and biodiversity protection. By partnering with conservation organizations, the company hopes to contribute to the long-term survival of Cyprus’ vulnerable marine species and inspire broader community action to safeguard the island’s natural heritage.
