🌦️ Larnaca district launches major environmental and infrastructure upgrades including water and sewerage projects
The Larnaca district government has unveiled a comprehensive series of environmental and infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing local services and sustainability. Key initiatives include the opening of a new green point in Larnaca by mid-July, expanding the district’s green point network to eight locations to improve recycling and reduce landfill waste. This project alone cost around €1 million.
Significant water infrastructure upgrades are also underway with a €3 million contract for replacing large sections of the water supply network in Larnaca and Oroklini, as well as plans for new water reservoirs in Aradippou costing a combined €7.5 million. Additionally, major enhancements to the sewerage system are progressing, including the construction of wastewater collection networks, pumping stations, and improved treatment facilities, with Phase C expected to complete by early 2027.
Other notable works include a €7 million rainwater management project in Kamares set for completion in 2026 and imminent tenders for similar projects across multiple communities, with a projected total investment near €40 million. These efforts collectively aim to bolster environmental management and infrastructure resilience in the Larnaca district.
