⚔️ Protest planned in Nicosia against Gaza Board of Peace meeting over Palestinian exclusion

A coalition of political parties and civil society organisations in Cyprus has called for a protest outside the Presidential Palace in Nicosia on the evening of June 30. The demonstration coincides with the opening day of the two-day Gaza Board of Peace meeting held in Cyprus, running through July 1.

The groups urge the Cyprus government to withdraw support for the Gaza Board of Peace, accusing it of sidelining the United Nations and undermining international law by excluding Palestinians from discussions about their future, while allowing Israel a seat on the Board. They emphasize that over 1,000 Palestinians have been killed during what is termed a ceasefire, alongside ongoing occupation, blockade, bombardments, forced displacement, starvation, and obstruction of humanitarian aid.

The protest organisers also condemn proposed developments called the "Gaza Riviera," which they say are based on displacement rather than justice or reconstruction. The coalition includes organisations such as the Cyprus Peace Council, BDS Cyprus, AKEL, and various civil rights groups, calling on Cyprus to uphold international law, UN resolutions, and Palestinian self-determination rights.
