🌍 President Christodoulides confirms ongoing efforts and progress towards resuming Cyprus talks

Cyprus President Nicos Christodoulides affirmed that efforts to restart negotiations on the Cyprus issue have not been halted and progress is underway. Speaking at the renaming ceremony of a Strovolos avenue, Christodoulides emphasized that while delays exist, the peace process continues actively, with the United Nations’ Special Envoy Olga Algın scheduled to attend meetings in Brussels on July 13 alongside the NATO summit.

The President highlighted ongoing diplomatic contacts in Cyprus, New York, and the EU aimed at convening an expanded conference to officially relaunch discussions. He noted the significance of recent EU engagement, including the appointment of a personal envoy and alignment with EU-Turkey relations, reflecting a strategic approach to link broader diplomatic developments with the Cyprus issue.

Christodoulides remains hopeful for a positive outcome, underscoring that this momentum stems from Cyprus’ own initiatives. The ultimate goal remains the resumption of dialogue to address the long-standing conflict effectively.
