🧒 Cyprus’ Robotheadz team to compete in FIRST LEGO League Asia Pacific Open Invitational in Sydney
Cyprus’ youth robotics team Robotheadz will represent the island at the FIRST LEGO League Asia Pacific Open Invitational in Sydney from July 9 to 12, following their national victory. The ten-member team won first place in Cyprus' national competition with a project that integrates technology and the island's cultural heritage, focusing on archaeology.
Before their departure, the Robotheadz team met with Chief Scientist Demetris Skourides, who praised their innovation and discussed the importance of nurturing young talent in Cyprus’s research and innovation landscape. The students showcased a mobile application designed to promote Cyprus’ cultural heritage through robotics, programming, and creative design.
The team will bring promotional materials including 3D-printed Cypriot artefacts and audiovisual content to the competition. Skourides emphasized the significance of investing in the younger generation, stating the team embodies Cyprus’ commitment to knowledge, research, and technology. Robotheadz will compete against regional teams, serving as ambassadors of Cyprus’ science and culture on an international stage.
