🚦 New traffic lights to operate at two Aradippou junctions from Tuesday to improve road safety
Additional traffic lights will become operational on Tuesday at two key junctions on Ellados Avenue in Aradippou, aiming to reduce fatal accidents in the area, Mayor Christodoulos Partou announced. This follows the recent activation of traffic lights at the intersection with Ivykou and Sergiou & Vakchou Streets. The new systems at Georgiou Theotoka Street and Iakovou Patatsou Street will be switched on next week.
The installations, which include pedestrian crossings, have been ongoing for about four months and cost the municipality €280,000. To complete the work, parts of Ellados Avenue will be temporarily closed to traffic on Monday and Tuesday. The mayor urged drivers to exercise caution, comply with temporary road signs, and be patient during this period.
The improvements come after several serious accidents, including a fatal crash in March that claimed the life of a 52-year-old. Future plans include building pavements and planting trees along Ellados Avenue to enhance pedestrian safety and urban environment.
