🎉 Deputy Nicosia Mayor Demands Cancellation of Exhibition Featuring Artist Who Designed 'TRNC' Flag

Deputy Mayor of Nicosia, Chrysanthos Fakas, has spoken out against the ongoing exhibition at the Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre (NiMAC), which includes works by Emin Çizenel, the artist who designed the flag of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). The Ecologists Movement had earlier expressed outrage, describing the flag as a symbol of the Turkish occupation and the partition of Cyprus.

Fakas stated that if the information regarding Çizenel's involvement is accurate, the exhibition should be cancelled immediately. This stance was supported by fellow DISY Nicosia councillors, who voiced their clear disagreement with the inclusion of the artist’s works.

The exhibition, titled "A Slight Indisposition," features several artists, including both Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots, highlighting the complex cultural and political sensitivities surrounding the event in a divided city.
