The Cyprus Department of Forests has signed a contract to build and install 75 animal escape ramps at reservoirs across the island. This initiative comes after several incidents where wild and stray animals drowned after getting trapped in reservoirs with steep or slippery banks. The ramps are designed to provide animals with an easy way to climb out of the water, preventing them from becoming exhausted and drowning. Officials emphasize that the new structures will improve safety for wildlife around reservoirs and help reduce animal fatalities in these areas.
