👮 Eight arrested in nationwide Cyprus police operations targeting illegal activities and traffic violations
Cyprus police arrested eight individuals during targeted overnight operations conducted across the country as part of a nationwide effort to prevent serious crime and maintain public order. The arrests were made for offences including illegal employment, unlicensed private security work, and various traffic violations.
During the operations, officers inspected 621 vehicles and checked 952 individuals, as well as carrying out inspections at 58 premises, resulting in 14 reports of offences. Traffic enforcement led to 392 reports of violations, with speeding identified as the most common offence, affecting 132 drivers, alongside 31 cases of driving under the influence of alcohol and two suspected drug-related cases.
Police also impounded 11 vehicles as part of their investigations. A total of 213 drivers were tested for alcohol and six for drugs. Authorities emphasized the operation's primary goal was to protect the public and safeguard public order throughout Cyprus.
