👮 31-year-old detained in Paphos after high-speed chase and firing warning shot

A 31-year-old man was taken into custody in the Paphos district following an incident involving negligent, dangerous, and reckless driving, a series of road collisions, and fleeing the scene. The man, who was found to be residing illegally in Cyprus, was driving without a license and without a valid safety certificate.

The event occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Griva Digeni Avenue in Paphos, where the driver reversed his vehicle, lightly colliding with another car before fleeing the scene. Police officers nearby attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect ignored their orders and sped through city streets, causing additional damage by colliding with other vehicles.

After abandoning his car, the man tried to escape on foot but was eventually apprehended by the police. During the pursuit, authorities fired a warning shot into the air. The Paphos Traffic Department and the Minor Offenses Department continue investigating the case.
