👮 Police finalise Marinos Sizopoulos investigation; Paphos mayor probe ongoing
Police have completed their investigation into former EDEK leader Marinos Sizopoulos concerning the Taxan Properties Developers Ltd affair, with the case file now being finalised before submission to the Attorney General’s Office. The probe, triggered by a 2025 report from the Independent Authority Against Corruption, alleges fraud, forgery, and conspiracy to defraud connected to undervalued property transactions aimed at settling bank debt. Sizopoulos has provided a formal statement after his parliamentary immunity was lifted earlier this year.
Separately, police investigations into Paphos Mayor Fedon Fedonos remain active. Authorities confirmed that while some complaints lacked evidence, at least two cases involving possible administrative irregularities and municipal management are still under investigation. These probes started following earlier allegations from 2022 covering property handling, recruitment, vehicle use, and pension fund management. No conclusions have been reached as investigations continue.
