🌍 President Christodoulides unveils new EU strategies for Islands and Coastal Areas during Cyprus presidency
President Nikos Christodoulides announced two new European Commission strategies targeting Islands and resilient, sustainable Coastal Areas at a high-level conference in Paphos. These strategies offer the first comprehensive framework to tackle the unique challenges and opportunities of the EU’s island and coastal regions, aligning closely with Cyprus’ national priorities.
Speaking about Cyprus' six-month EU Council presidency, Christodoulides expressed strong satisfaction with the tangible and substantive results achieved. He highlighted successful handling of major geopolitical issues, the new EU budget, enlargement policies, and legislative areas impacting everyday life such as education, health, and labor rights.
The president emphasized pride in Cyprus’ accomplishments within just 181 days, noting that the presidency’s most significant legacy was advancing the EU’s strategic autonomy, demonstrating the country’s leadership and influence on the European stage.
