👮 12 arrests during intensified operations at Lady’s Mile and Curium beaches
The SBA Police have arrested 12 individuals over four weeks of intensified operations at Lady’s Mile and Curium beaches, focusing on drug possession and public safety. Among the recent arrests, a 34-year-old Bulgarian man was detained for carrying offensive weapons and driving under the influence of narcotics. Authorities found a small quantity of drugs along with illegal knives, a scythe, and a wooden baton in his vehicle. He remains in custody pending a court appearance scheduled for July 6.
During the same period, officers reported 20 drivers for minor traffic violations, issued 60 cautions for traffic and powerboat offenses, and referred two people to local authorities for operating without business licenses. The SBA Police Marine Unit also inspected 113 boats and jet skis to enforce maritime safety.
Chief Inspector Toby Demetriou emphasized that public safety remains the priority amid visitor numbers exceeding 7,000 per day at the beaches. He praised Operation Guardian for its positive impact on maintaining safety and reassuring beachgoers through increased police visibility.
