🛩️ Man dies after being restrained on Jet2 flight from Larnaca to Manchester following assault

A man, identified as 35-year-old Callum Kerr from Warrington, died after being restrained aboard a Jet2 flight from Larnaca to Manchester. Kerr was found unresponsive by Greater Manchester Police officers who boarded the plane upon arrival at Manchester Airport early Monday. Despite officers performing CPR and taking him to the hospital, he passed away the following day.

The incident began after an alleged assault involving Kerr and a fellow passenger as well as a cabin crew member. Passengers and aircrew restrained Kerr during the flight. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is investigating the conduct of the five officers who boarded the flight, following a mandatory referral from Greater Manchester Police. Officers involved are currently treated as witnesses, not suspects.

Kerr’s family described him as a devoted father of three with a passion for sport. Greater Manchester Police are also investigating the actions of members of the public involved in restraining Kerr. Body-worn camera footage and officer statements are being reviewed as part of both investigations.
