👮 Cypriot artist's sculptures vandalized and stolen in Fasoula community amid theft spree

Cypriot sculptor Filippos Yiapannis has been the victim of a string of thefts and vandalism targeting his public artworks in Fasoula. Early Thursday, unknown vandals damaged his sculpture "Sphairovólos" located in the compound of the Fasoula Church, a piece he had donated to the community 20 years ago.

In addition, Yiapannis reported that thieves broke into the M. Salamina area and stole his sculpture "Birds." After searching, he found the sculpture discarded near a fence, broken, and missing three birds. Copper sheets given to him by a friend for casting sculptures were also stolen. Expressing his distress, the artist said he felt disgusted by the attacks but remains hopeful police will identify the perpetrators. He thanked friends and the Fasoula Hunting Association for their support during this difficult time.
