🏠 Cyprus government speeds up housing development approvals with new licensing reforms
The Cyprus government has accelerated the approval process for housing developments, granting permits for nearly 3,000 residential units within 40 working days and around 1,000 apartment buildings within 80 working days. Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou highlighted these achievements at a meeting with the property developer’s association in Limassol, calling the licensing reform "one of the most important interventions" in recent years.
The reform aims to modernize public administration through expanded e-government services and reduced bureaucracy, creating a more efficient and investor-friendly environment. These changes support the government’s housing strategy to increase supply and provide affordable options for younger people and families.
Ioannou emphasized the critical role of private investment in delivering new housing and economic growth, while ongoing upgrades to digital services and urban planning departments aim to enhance transparency and processing times. The government positions these reforms as essential for maintaining Cyprus’ attractiveness as an investment destination and fostering sustainable development.
