🏗️ Interior Ministry denies halt in Famagusta single-family home planning applications

The Interior Ministry has denied claims by the Famagusta district government that the processing of planning permission applications for single-family homes has come to a halt due to pending regulations. The ministry clarified that current regulations specify eight provisions for permitting single-family home construction, including plot size, distance from property lines, and access guidelines.

According to the ministry, these clear rules limit the discretion of urban planning authorities, meaning pending new regulations do not affect the ability to process individual planning applications. This contradicts the Famagusta district government's statement that applications were on hold awaiting the interior ministry's approval of new guidelines.

The district government had announced that no examination of single residence applications was possible until new guidelines were approved. However, the Interior Ministry affirmed that the examination and processing of such applications continue under existing regulations.
