🛩️ New Airbus H145 Helicopters Enhance Year-Round RAF Response Capability in Cyprus
The first of three new Airbus H145 Jupiter HC Mk2 helicopters has completed its maiden flight from RAF Akrotiri, establishing a 24/7 response capability in Cyprus. The H145 is versatile, supporting missions such as aerial firefighting, intelligence gathering, and search and rescue.
Widely operated in over 40 countries, the H145 features modern systems that reduce maintenance and crew workload, improving operational availability. Squadron Leader Steven Bradley of RAF 84 Squadron highlighted the aircraft's role in enhancing protection and operational support in Cyprus and beyond.
RAF 84 Squadron pilots will continue training on the new helicopters, with support from Airbus engineers. The H145s are set to replace Chinooks in fulfilling aerial firefighting duties ahead of the upcoming wildfire season.
