🧒 Three Education Bills Including Special Education and Teacher Appointment System to be Submitted to Parliament in Autumn
The Cyprus Ministry of Education plans to submit three significant bills to Parliament in the autumn, focusing on Special Education, the teacher appointment system, and the formal establishment of Sports and Music Schools. Education Minister Athina Michaïlidou announced these legislative initiatives following a meeting with the new Parliamentary Education Committee.
Minister Michaïlidou emphasized ongoing reforms aimed at improving the quality of education, ensuring equal opportunities, and modernizing school infrastructure. She stated that the installation of air conditioning units has been completed in kindergartens, with the goal of ensuring safe operation in middle and high schools by September. Additionally, a decade-long plan for school infrastructure development is in place to address overcrowding and facility needs.
The bills reflect efforts to create a more inclusive and effective education system, with emphasis on a thoroughly modernized approach to special education, evaluation processes for teachers, and enhanced digital and technical education. Michaïlidou highlighted the importance of cooperation with Parliament, educators, and stakeholders to advance these reforms as part of a broader societal commitment to education's future in Cyprus.
