📰 Digital Cooperation Organisation launches Ethical AI Guidebook to aid governments including Cyprus
The Digital Cooperation Organisation (DCO) has introduced a new Ethical AI Guidebook aimed at helping governments develop practical and ethical artificial intelligence policies. The guidebook was unveiled during a high-level event held alongside the United Nations Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence Governance in Geneva on July 8, 2026. Cyprus, as one of DCO's member states, stands to benefit from this initiative designed to support responsible AI adoption through governance frameworks and capacity building.
The guidebook is based on the DCO’s Principles for Ethical AI and the Riyadh AI Call to Action Declaration and is part of a larger set of governance tools to prepare countries for AI advances. These include the AI Ethics Evaluator and the Digital Economy Navigator, which enhance institutional capability and trust in AI policymaking. The guidebook has been made publicly accessible through the DCO’s website.
DCO Secretary-General Deemah AlYahya emphasized the importance of equitable AI governance, noting that many nations are excluded from shaping AI’s future. She stated that while there is global agreement on AI principles, what is lacking is the capacity to implement them. The guidebook aims to close this gap by providing governments with practical tools to ensure AI is a trusted engine for digital prosperity worldwide.
