The party emphasized that any evaluation of resolving Cyprus and Nato membership should focus solely on national interest and security, without outdated ideological biases.

Stefanou reiterated Akel's firm stance against Nato involvement in talks, asserting that any plan without Akel's support would lack public backing. This echoes Akel's previous withdrawal from support of the 2004 Annan Plan due to insufficient security guarantees from the UN, underpinning its cautious approach.

Meanwhile, Nato remains part of ongoing discussions about post-solution security, including potential accession of a reunified Cyprus and the presence of multinational Nato troops. Recent diplomatic engagements at the Nato summit and upcoming high-level UN meetings aim to revive negotiations, with a broader conference involving Cyprus' two communities, guarantor powers, and the UN tentatively planned for next month.
