🎉 Recycling initiative at Mari and Kalavasos festivals to expand across Larnaca district
A recycling initiative launched during the Mari and Kalavasos festivals successfully collected recyclable waste and will now be extended to other community events across the Larnaca district. The project, organised by the Larnaca district local government in collaboration with the Larnaca-Famagusta development agency, focused on separating recyclables such as plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and cardboard cartons from general waste.
The initiative aimed to reduce waste sent for disposal, promote recycling, and encourage environmental awareness among citizens, including the adoption of waste separation practices at community events. Visitors actively participated, supporting the "pay as you throw" waste management approach.
Following its success, organisers announced that the programme will continue at future festivals throughout Larnaca district to help meet national and European environmental targets. They expressed gratitude to all partners, local councils, volunteers, and the public for their support.
