📰 Cyprus honours sponsors who supported successful EU presidency with national and European impact
Cyprus has honoured the sponsors who contributed to the success of its EU presidency, highlighting the unity and shared vision achieved during this period. Deputy European Affairs Minister Marilena Raouna emphasized that the presidency was a unique opportunity for Cyprus, a small EU member with distinct regional challenges, to demonstrate its integral role within the Middle East and Europe.
The presidency journey began two and a half years ago and involved extensive cooperation from Cyprus’ civil service, diplomatic missions, society, youth, and schools, showcasing a comprehensive national effort. Director of the presidency’s secretariat Demetris Mavrommatis noted that sponsoring organisations and businesses not only provided essential goods and services but also contributed expertise and trust.
Major sponsors such as Cyta and Ayia Napa Marina, along with EKO Cyprus and Coca-Cola HBC Cyprus, were recognised with honorary plaques. Their contributions ranged from network services and event installations to vehicle support and refreshments during high-level meetings, underscoring the strong collaboration behind Cyprus’ impactful EU presidency.
