⚔️ Defence Minister Vasilis Palmas assures respect for new conscripts as 2026 enlistment begins
Defence Minister Vasilis Palmas on Tuesday emphasized the non-negotiable respect for every new conscript’s dignity as the 2026 enlistment process commenced. Speaking at the Christos Samaras military camp in Athalassa, Palmas highlighted that the National Guard would become the recruits’ new family during their 14-month service to Cyprus. He stressed the rigorous but respectful nature of the training programme, assuring families of the care and professionalism involved.
Palmas also noted that the Defence Ministry and National Guard continually adapt training methods to meet modern challenges. He encouraged the recruits to feel proud of their service, reminding them some peers are unable to serve due to health issues. The minister praised the enlistment process's smooth management and described military service as a “supreme duty to the homeland,” wishing the recruits success in their upcoming service.
