⚔️ Cyprus Defense Ministry Increases Promotion Slots for Contracted Soldiers from 250 to 400

The Cypriot Minister of Defence, Vasilis Palmas, announced an increase in the number of promotion positions for Contracted Soldiers (SYOP) to Contracted Non-Commissioned Officers (SYP) from 250 to 400. This decision was made in coordination with the Ministry of Finance and was announced during the receipt of written exam results from the Ministry of Education. The expansion reflects increased interest from SYOP personnel, growing staffing needs due to ongoing military programs, and recognition of the significant role played by SYOP in enhancing the combat readiness of the National Guard.

The top 400 candidates from these exams will be eligible for promotion and can serve up to the age of 57, attaining ranks up to Sergeant Major. The Ministry has also implemented improvements including revised salary scales, higher monthly allowances, and extended contractual age limits. Minister Palmas assured continued efforts to support personnel welfare and indicated future opportunities for promotion when vacancies arise. The Ministry of Education was acknowledged for facilitating the smooth and transparent conduct of the examinations.
